Favorite finds from High Point market
It was a whirlwind 3 days at the High Point Furniture Market which was held from June 5th to June 9th. Above all, I cannot tell you how inspiring and invigorating it was to be back live and in person at this event which normally takes place in April (the spring market) and October (the fall market).
Due to the world situation, “market” as those in the trade call it, had been postponed twice, and to the delight of all of us, designers were able to return en masse this spring. I am really excited to bring you some of the finds and some trends I found-along with some suggestions of how to incorporate my favorite finds from High Point Market into your home.
Trend: Materials Matter at High Point Market
First and foremost was the theme of sustainability. Materials and manufacturing with a nod to taking care of the environment were everywhere. Natural materials, natural dyes and sustainable manufacturing processes are now the norm rather than the exception. This manufacturer shown below, has always been a favorite of mine for window coverings. This beautiful hand-woven fabric can be lined with a variety of materials from sheer to black out. These shades are perfect for a bedroom, bathroom, or a lovely home office.
Trend: Work From Home
Work from home has taken on a new meaning for furniture makers. From simple quick ship items to custom made beautiful heirloom pieces the home office will never look the same again. Stand up desks can be rather utilitarian looking. We found a blend of form and function in an adjustable desk from Copeland Furniture which is hand crafted in Vermont. Another example shown below, this beautiful desk from a line I represent, is one of my personal favorites for custom furniture. Made in Ohio this company’s furniture combines handmade quality and craftsmanship with incredible metal work details.
Favorite Finds at High Point Market: Accessories
In addition to furniture and fabrics, accessories were everywhere and I loved these. First, I found quite an assortment of desktop sets for every style along with games like backgammon and card sets. Luxurious finishes wrapped products from blotters and trays to wastebaskets and tissue boxes. Everything a true executive office or home command central could need. On the left is the Kiruna desk set and on the right the Crosby desk set. Like what you see? Give us a call. These beauties can be delivered right to your door. Below them, you will see some of my favorite finds at High Point Market. I love colors and textures. These pieces are perfect for an entrance foyer, a lovely powder room, a kitchen or open shelf display.
Favorite Find from High Point Market: Indoor and Outdoor Furniture
Here are 2 more versatile finds from market. First is the the fabulous new indoor/outdoor furniture collection from Seasonal Living’s Provenance Signature Collection by Laura Muller. Made from sustainable materials with a nod to mindfulness and beautiful lines. I will definitely consider these pieces as I design your extended living environments.
Favorite Find from High Point Market: Floor Cloths
I suffer from allergies and therefore, carpet and I do not get along. This company offers amazing vinyl floor cloths available in a variety of sizes and colors. Not only do they offer entrance mats, but in addition they also have runners and full scale rugs for every room in your home. Wipe them down and they are clean. Light and bright, they bring a pop of color and pattern suitable for any room in your home. I have used them in my own mudroom and bathrooms and I look forward to helping your choose some for your home.
Favorite Find From High Point Market: Wallcovering
Wanting to quickly and easily change a room wtihout remodeling? I recommend wallcovering. This manufacturer had so many beautiful papers, I had trouble choosing my favorite market find. Here are two completely different choices. On the left is a bright and fun paper for any room from the kitchen, laundry room, or guest bedroom. On the right is a subtly luxurious paper which would be right at home in any room of your home. Which one do you prefer?
Although my visit to High Point Market was short and jam packed, I really am glad I attended. I am so enthusiastic to get back to work and create beautiful spaces for you, my clients. Let me know if you have to have any of my finds for your own home.
