Color Forecast 2020
What is the next hot color?
Designers live for color. Which paint colors are trending for 2020? I recently attended Sherwin Williams‘ (SW) color Mix Forecast 2020 to find out what will be hot in paint. I love this new color palette. Mind Body and Spirit are the influences for their 45 color trends. Here is what I learned about where their influences for these selections came from along with Naval SW 6244 their color of the year.

Color in Balance is the theme.
Alive
Influences: Optimism Authenticity Globalization New Local
This is a very pretty colorway, one which I have in my own home. It has easy to live with neutrals with tried and true accents of rich deep blue, olive and clay colors. SW says “it evokes a satisfying and rejuvenating sense of community and living well”.
Mantra
Influences: Minimalism Serenity Scandinese Sanctuary
These beautiful colors combine the simple and elegant design elements of Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics. The hues are soft, muted and very calming. Look for these influences coming through for home accents.
Play
Influences: Escapism Humor Joy Energy
These bright and bold colors when mixed with a black and white interior just make you happy. This is definitely a color trend I am seeing in my clients homes in more urban settings as well as their getaway spaces. Mixes of hot pink, mustard and bright yellows with glass and brass accents work very well with this color collection.
Haven
Influences: Simplicity Wabi Sabi Conservation Material Health
These colors will create an oasis at home. There is a definite connection to mother earth and the seasons, living in the moment, sustainability and good things to come. This is a very muted color collection which will create a feeling of calm serenity. Think of the color of river rocks and soft golden moss along a forest path.
Heart
Influences: Bauhaus Bohemian Fusion Humanity
I really am a bohemian at heart and these colors have a Boho vibe. The blend of earth tones with corals and soft taupe combine to create a harmonious interior. It lends itself to a more contemporary feel with soft wood and simple lines.
Every day I give thanks that I can see in color. We are surrounded by and influenced by color. How boring a black and white world would be. Want to change your mood, wear a different color. Let’s face it, we have a love hate relationship with color trends. What do you think about these trending paint colors? Do you have a favorite? Personally I have always loved navy. It goes with shades of pink, orange, yellow and especially white.
Wishing you a colorful start to the next decade.
