Nature Inspired Paint Hues Are Strong For 2022
Each year the major players in the world of paint introduce their color of the year. Much ado is made about these colors. A lot of research goes into these selections as these colors influence home design, fashion as well as a host of consumer products. This year an interesting phenomena happened. The color of the Year (aka #COTY) ,as selected by 5 of the 6 big names in paint, all selected shades of green for 2022. Lets take a look a the paint colors to watch in 2022 and how they will impact our living environments
I have to admit I love green. Not all greens, perhaps, but most of them. Green is the color of nature and wellness. It can be uplifting and inspiring. Green harmonizes with natural wood tones. Green and related colors of nature have been coming on strong as we move into 2022. As wellness, mindfulness and wellbeing continue to be important factors in human happiness, I am sure we will be seeing more of these soothing and calming colors in our interiors.
Paint Colors to Watch in 2022: How to use shades of green in your home.
Earlier this year, I was invited to create my own custom branded Sherwin Williams signature paint color, as a perk of my membership in Ethos Design Collective. My color inspiration for #SeaCrystal comes from the sea with a shimmer of silver moonlight. My color is the perfect blend of both elements. This shade of green can find a home in virtually any room of your home. Equally appropriate for a kitchen or bath, a welcoming entry foyer or mudroom would also look great dressed in Sea Crystal.

Dining Rooms
In this dining area, this soft subtle shade of green paint blends perfectly with the white millwork and the wood accents of the table and the window seat bench. It is also the perfect backdrop for the black and white photos on the wall.
Kitchens
The sage green paint color on the island cabinets is just the right companion to the rift cut oak cabinets and the stone tile back splash. Natural colors and materials compliment this lovely Craftsman kitchen. This combination creates a warm and inviting feel perfect for the heart of the home.
Here I selected a soft green backsplash tile which coordinates with a deeper shade of green in the adjoining dining area. There is just enough contrast with the white cabinets to produce a perfect backdrop for this kitchen. This is the visual definition of understated elegance.
Living Rooms
Here we paired several shades of green in the wall color, the linen fabric of the window treatments and occasional chairs with the stone of the fireplace surround. Warm terracotta colored Ultrasuede sofas, bright pops of orange accent pieces and mother nature herself complete this contemporary living room. Designed by Sharon L Sherman Thyme & Place Design.

Bathrooms
Green is a great choice for any bathroom where you want to create a personal retreat. Here in a recently completed principal bathroom, the green painted walls bring a sense of serenity and mindfulness. Who would not want to retreat to this space. Here are some of the green hued paints selected by the major paint brands as their Color of The Year. However, I still love my custom branded #SeaCrystal best. Contact me if you’d like to use it in your own homes!
