How We Work
Thyme & Place Design and our associated contractors go to every possible length to make the remodeling process easy. And we do so right from the beginning.
Preparing for your remodel
To make our initial meeting as productive as possible, we recommend that you do some homework:
- Put together a scrapbook or a file folder of notes and articles that you feel are relevant to your project, as well as photos of other design projects that appeal to you. This will help us establish a sense of your design aesthetic.
- Create a wish list for your new space.
- Develop a projected budget.
- Call to make an appointment to meet us and to view our portfolio.
Initial Consultation
Whether this first meeting takes place in your home or in our studio at 385 Clinton Avenue in Wyckoff, the objectives are the same:
- To discuss your project.
- To review your wish list.
- To help you refine your budget to achieve these goals.
- To establish a rapport between designer and client. This is important because if you decide to proceed, we will be working together for a while. The average bathroom takes two months; the average kitchen, two to four months; a major addition or renovation, six to eight months or more. And that doesn't include time for surprises, such as opening a wall and finding foundation damage or electrical wiring that isn't up to code.
At the close of this consultation, we will discuss a project development fee and time schedule for moving forward with your project.
Upon Receipt of Your Project Development Fee
At this point, the fun of planning your project begins!
- We will create a design and draft perspectives, elevations, and a floor plan.
- We will review these elements with you and discuss the design and any potential modifications. Our goal is to give you the best possible design solution.
- If you like what you see, we will provide you with firm prices and a contract. Once the contract is signed, products can be ordered and construction work can be scheduled.
The Installation Process
Upon receipt of your signed contract, it's time to begin turning your dreams into a physical reality!
Own team of professional installers will be with you from start to finish and, in keeping with our policy of personalized service, our in-studio design team will be your advocate throughout the process.
